World's smallest microcassette recorder in 1982: Olympus Pearlcorder L400

World's smallest and lightest Microcassette recorders, the Pearlcorder L400 is highly portable and can be taken virtually anywhere you want, alot of private detectives used the L400, even today, due to it's small size. Was first released in 1982 and ended in early 90's. Sony M 909 may be the smallest, not to sure, as I don't have one, but came ot in the 90s, would be interested in buying in the box mint.

OLYMPUS invented the world's first microcassette recorder for use as a dictation machine/voice recorder. During initial sales the recorder failed to achieve success as it was competing against the Philips minicassette recorder which was a complete machine without the attachment modules needed by the Zuiko. The recorder is rare as it was not manufactured in great numbers and manufacturing and sales were stopped, as the recorder was put back into further development. In 1970 the company changed its brand name from ZUIKO to OLYMPUS. The fully redesigned Pearlcorder was re-launched in 1977 as two models, the all in one complete system, and the SD with its many modules and accessories.
